Rona Sailing Project and Deaf Sailing UK's Tall Ships Race 2006
|
|
|
Following last year's successful Tall Ships Race, there is no
plan at the present that the Rona Sailing Project might invite some young
deaf people to take part in the Race this summer, which would
mark the 50th Anniversary Tall Ships' Races. Nevertheless, we
will, of course, continue the cooperation with the office on
the enquiry basis, and we would encourage you to contact the
Rona Sailing Project office as an individual if you want to try out an
unique experience abroad a tall ship
|
|
The fleet will be closer to 70 and 100 vessels from 20 or more
countries, crewed by some 4,000 or so young people from over
30 countries worldwide, taking part in The Tall Ships' Races
in Europe. Organised by Sail Training International, this
unique event combines four days of activities in each port with
racing or cruising-in-company between ports.
|
|
During the race series the young crews get the chance to gain experience
by sailing with their contemporaries from other countries while facing
the physical and emotional challenges that only the ocean can provide.
This year is the 50th Anniversary of the Tall
Ships Race; the race crews will be going through
the gruelling selection process over the next
couple of months, to ensure we have a team take
to Rona 2 to the top.
