DSUK Fundraising Event at Sussex Yacht Club - November 2009
Deaf Sailing UK announces a fundraising dinner event for the competitive price of £25 for a three course meal,
at Sussex Yacht Club on 28th November 2009

This follows our successful race in Cowes Week for the fourth consecutive year, thanks to the
excellent hospitality of Island Sailing Club.
Our Guest speaker at the November event will be Matthew Jackson, who was one of the first
deaf persons to have circumnavigated the British Isles wholly and successfully with no assistance from
the shore in 1981. It was published in the March 1982 issue of Yachting Monthly, and in 1982 journal
of Clyde Cruising Club, but more importantly, it was recognised and acknowledged officially by Her
Majesty's Coastguard in the January - March 1982 issue of its own magazine. This confirms that they
are the first disabled people to sail round the British Isles.
It will be followed a professional belly dancing performance as part of the entertainment.
